Day 1: Arrival in Chitose, Hokkaido

Day 2: Chitose to Lake Shikaribetsu

Once you’ve picked up your rental motorcycle, it’s time to hit the open road! Our journey takes us along the coast before we turn inland on Jukai Road. Enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the Tokachi Plain as we climb into the mountains, arriving at Lake Shikaribetsu, the highest lake in Hokkaido. Nestled among nature, this mystical lake is the perfect spot to relax. Tonight, we’ll stay at a hot spring inn by the lakeside, where you can unwind with a local Japanese kaiseki meal and enjoy a soak in the onsen.
Day 3: Lake Shikaribetsu to Lake Kussharo

We begin today’s journey with a visit to Lake Onneto in Ashoro Town. Known as one of Hokkaido’s “three secret lakes,” its colors change with the light and season, captivating visitors with its mystical atmosphere. Take a stroll in this tranquil setting before continuing on to Lake Kussharo, Japan’s largest caldera lake, where we’ll spend the night at a lakeside resort hotel. You may even catch a glimpse of the ethereal sea of clouds in the early morning.
Day 4: Lake Kussharo to Asahikawa

After leaving the hotel, we’ll make our way to Bihoro Pass, a short 15-minute ride away. Here, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of Lake Kussharo, with Mount Io and Mount Shari on the horizon. If conditions are right, you may even witness the mystical sea of clouds from the 525-meter-high observation point. Riding along Route 39, we’ll continue to Sounkyo Gorge, a breathtaking canyon dotted with waterfalls. In autumn, we’ll take the ropeway to Mt. Kurodake to enjoy the stunning autumn foliage. Tonight’s accommodation is in Asahikawa, Hokkaido’s second-largest city.
Day 5: Asahikawa to Otaru

Today, we explore the heart of Hokkaido, starting with the mesmerizing Blue Pond in Furano. Known worldwide for its vivid blue color, it’s a surreal landscape that’s perfect for a peaceful stroll. Then, we’ll ride along the famous Roller Coaster Road in Kami-Furano, a straight 2.5-kilometer road with rolling hills on either side, capturing Hokkaido’s idyllic rural charm. After a visit to Tomita Farm’s seasonal flower fields, we’ll continue through the countryside towards Otaru.
Day 6: Otaru to Lake Toya

This morning, we’ll visit Yoichi for a tour of the whisky distillery, where you can sample Japan’s finest and shop for exclusive bottles. Next, we’ll head to Shinsen Marsh, renowned for its mystical beauty that transforms with each season. Tonight’s stay is at a lakeside hotel by Lake Toya, a designated UNESCO Global Geopark. Relax in the hot springs and enjoy a delicious dinner with stunning lake views.
Day 7: Lake Toya to Chitose
150 kilometers / 93 miles
On our final day, we’ll ride to Hoheikyo Dam, surrounded by lush forests and stunning autumn leaves in season. To end the journey, we’ll stop for a memorable photo with Hokkaido’s iconic Moai statue. Our last scenic ride will take us around Lake Shikotsu, famed for its crystal-clear “Shikotsu Blue” waters, before we return to Chitose.
